The service

Three steps
and you're in the water

Torre Salsa is a nature reserve: no paved road down to the sea, no parking on the sand. The descent is long, unsurfaced and completely unshaded. That's exactly why we exist.

Stop 01 — at the top

Park at the entrance

Leave the car and get ready: from here on it's up to us.

Stop 02 — the descent

Hop on the shuttle

You cross the Mediterranean scrub along the dirt track. The ride down is half the pleasure.

Stop 03 — sea level

You're on the beach

Pick your own patch of sand and plant the parasol. No assigned spots, no rows. You decide when to go back.

What's included

Most requested

Parasols and sunbeds

You hire them from us and set them up wherever you like. There are no rows of loungers and no beach clubs here: it's a nature reserve, the beach stays free and you choose the spot.

Return shuttle

From the car park to the beach and back, running from 9am to 7pm.

Parking at the entrance

A parking space at the mouth of the reserve, so you're not circling in the sun.

A bag for your rubbish

We hand it to you. Whatever you take down comes back up with you: this is a reserve, not a beach club.

No beach clubs, no crowds. Nine kilometres of coast, and you pick your spot.

The reserve

Nine kilometres
left as they were

Between Montallegro and Siculiana the coast changes character: white marl cliffs drop onto the sand and for kilometres there is nothing else. It is one of the last Sicilian beaches where the Caretta caretta turtle still comes ashore to nest, protected by the WWF since 2000. You can only reach it from above — which is exactly why it is still like this.

The white cliff

Calcareous marl, the sediment of an ancient sea floor. Under the midday sun it looks like snow, and it changes colour every hour of the day.

The dunes

Sea daffodil, Phoenicean juniper, mastic and rosemary. Stay on the walkways, not on the plants: they are what holds the beach together.

The loggerhead turtle

In summer the nests are marked and fenced. If you come across one, keep your distance and let us know: we'll take care of it.

Questions

Before you come

How do I get to the meeting point?

We're at the entrance to the reserve, in the municipality of Montallegro (Agrigento), reached from the SS115 road between Montallegro and Siculiana Marina. The coordinates are 37.3760° N · 13.3220° E — message us on WhatsApp and we'll send the exact pin for your sat nav.

Do I need to book?

In summer, at weekends and throughout August it's better to let us know in advance: we organise the shuttle runs and set aside a parasol and sunbeds for you. At other times you can simply turn up. The shuttle runs from 9am to 7pm.

Can I walk down?

No: the path exists, but it crosses private property. That is precisely why the shuttle exists.

Are there beach clubs or parasols already set up?

No, and we're not allowed to: Torre Salsa is a nature reserve and beach club services are not permitted. You hire the parasol and sunbeds from us and set them up wherever you like along nine kilometres of beach. That's why you never find crowds here.

Are there bars or facilities on the beach?

No, and that's the beauty of it. Bring plenty of water, something to eat and sunscreen. Your rubbish comes back up with you: we hand you a bag at the car park.

Is it good with children?

Yes. The shuttle solves the main problem, which is getting there and back. The water stays shallow a long way out. A pushchair on sand is little use, though: a baby carrier works better.

How much does it cost?

Prices depend on the season and on what you need (shuttle only, or shuttle with parasol and sunbeds). Message us on WhatsApp: we'll tell you everything in two minutes, no obligation.
